Research from SINTEF and Nofima suggests that shelf life can be extended by around 50% compared to normal transport with crushed ice, says Thomas Karlsen, CEO of Glacio Fredrikstad.  He emphasises that the goods must be Super cooled from the start to achieve these benefits.

Strengthened sustainability
-Longer shelf life opens up for other more environmentally friendly and cost-effective transport options for fresh salmon, among others, continues Karlsen. -The seafood market is very demanding in terms of quality. At the same time, there are large price fluctuations in the sale of fresh fish. We believe that Supercool will in the future be part of the solution for the industry for both quality, sustainability and cost efficiency, says Karlsen and points out that air freight is one of the major challenges in the industry when it comes to CO2 emissions.

More than seafood
Karlsen points out that it is not only within seafood Supercool is advantageous. We have customers today in the import of meat products that have significantly increased flexibility by using Supercool. We are only a few meters away from the quayside and handles a large number of import containers for repackaging, marking, storage and processing.
